Park City Ice Miners 14U/16U/18U Tier 2 Tryouts for the 2020-2021 Season

Frequently Asked Questions*

*Answers are based on what we know as of May 31, 2020.  E-mails will go out as we get updates.

When will we be able to register?

The Park City Ice Miners will open up tryout registration on their website, www.pciceminers.org , on Tuesday, June 2, 2020.  An e-mail will go out when registration opens.  Information on skate times for tryouts, program charter, etc. will also be included in the e-mail.  The registration information will also be posted to the front of our website.

What are the dates for tryouts?

The dates are June 19-21, 2020.

Where will tryouts be held?

Tryouts will be held at the Park City Ice Arena.

How will tryout check-ins be run?

We will be asking you to sign documents and submit them on-line this year.   Please be prepared to do so.   We will take your temperature before you enter the rink.  We will then hand out a red practice jersey (if you do not already own one) and a pinnie as you enter the rink.  You will be assigned a locker room number and be able to enter the rink to change in the locker room given.

Will we be trying on uniforms for sizing this year?

No.  Sizing of uniforms will be handled after teams are named and a sizing chart for each item will be e-mailed out.  You will need to fill out the sizing sheet at home and e-mail it back to the uniform manager.  This will be done during the two weeks after the teams are named.

Will we have to wear a mask on the ice?

Are we going to be able to scrimmage at tryouts?

What will the season look like this fall?

No one can predict yet what the season will look like.  We are moving forward with hopes that the hockey season will return back to more of a normal season this fall.  We will work within any city, county and state guidelines to run the season the closest we can to this.

If the season is cut short due to a second wave of COVID-19 or we travel less to tournaments due to travel restrictions, will there be any adjustments on the season dues?

We are all optimistic the season will proceed as anticipated.  However, should we have to reduce the number of tournaments, games and practices the team has due to COVID-19 restrictions, pro-rata credits or refunds will be provided. Our season fees are calculated by taking the team’s ice costs hours (practice and games), tournament fees, coaching fees and travel costs, administrative expenses, and included uniform items and divided by the number of players on the team.  This year we will list in the charter what we feel the season fees will be based on a normal season and will adjust accordingly if needed.

When will 10U/12U Travel tryouts be held?

The 10U/12U Travel tryouts are still scheduled for August 1-2, 2020 at the Park City Ice Arena.

The Park City Ice Miners have applied again to be in the North American Prospects Hockey League (NAPHL) Showcase Division for our 18U/16U/14U Tier 2 teams.  Last year our 18U and 16U Tier 2 teams competed in this league and ended in the top 10, making it to the playoffs in their respective divisions.  This showcase league consists of three (3) tournaments in Minneapolis in October, December and January. The league is run by the North American Hockey League (NAHL) and will give our highest-level players tremendous exposure to premium competition. December’s showcase routinely draws approximately two hundred (200) scouts from junior and college hockey programs. The NAHL hosts a showcase the same weekend which is the epicenter of American hockey in December.
